Child's Access to Loaded Gun Results in Tragic Shooting in Detroit

A 6-year-old boy shot his 1-year-old brother twice in Detroit after getting hold of a loaded, semi-automatic weapon that had been left in the house. The baby is expected to survive. The incident is the latest in a series of children accessing unsecured guns in Michigan. In April, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a bill instituting safe storage requirements for guns. Nationwide, 26 states have secure storage laws or child-access prevention laws, according to Everytown.
