Major US Airlines Uncover Unapproved Engine Parts During Overhaul
Delta Air Lines is replacing unapproved parts in a small number of aircraft engines that were found during a recent overhaul. The affected engines make up less than 1% of Delta's mainline fleet. The airline is working with its service provider to replace the parts and remain in compliance with FAA guidelines. No aircraft are currently flying with unapproved engine parts, and the discovery has not impacted Delta's scheduled flying operations. This comes after other airlines, including American Airlines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines, found components from AOG Technics Ltd. on their aircraft engines. AOG is under investigation for potentially selling engine components with forged paperwork.
