Massive Shimano Recall: Cranksets and E-bikes Pose Safety Risks
Shimano is recalling approximately 760,000 Ultegra and Dura-Ace road chainsets due to a risk of failure. The recall affects specific models manufactured prior to 2019 and sold in North America and Canada. The recalled components can separate and break, posing a crash hazard. Shimano has received over 4,500 incidents of cranksets failing, resulting in six reported injuries. Owners are advised to stop using the affected cranksets and contact a Shimano dealer for inspection and replacement. A worldwide recall is expected to be announced soon.
