"Daisy Ridley Endures Grueling Training and 1920s Swimwear for 'Young Woman and the Sea'"
Daisy Ridley stars as Trudy Ederle in "Young Woman and the Sea," a film directed by Joachim Rønning that chronicles Ederle's historic 1926 swim across the English Channel. Ridley underwent extensive training, including open water swimming with Olympic medalist Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, to authentically portray Ederle. The film, shot on location in Varna, Bulgaria, features realistic elements and special rigs to capture the swimming scenes. Rønning aimed to balance Ederle's backstory with her journey, culminating in a climactic scene with 1,000 extras. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer helped ensure the film's pacing and audience engagement.
