Tropical storm warnings have been issued from Maryland to North Carolina as a system is expected to develop into Tropical Storm Ophelia. The storm is forecast to strengthen and bring rain, tropical storm-force winds, and storm surge to parts of the Carolinas and the Mid-Atlantic coast late Friday into Saturday.

While some warnings were withdrawn, tropical storm warnings remain in effect for parts of Canada. The storm is expected to weaken and dissipate in the coming days. Power outages and downed trees have been reported, and storm surges are expected to subside. The region, already affected by wildfires and severe flooding, is experiencing exhaustion from the continuous weather events. Lee shares similarities with Superstorm Sandy but is not expected to be as destructive.
