Tropical Storm Bret brings strong winds and warnings.

Tropical Storm Bret is expected to weaken after passing the Lesser Antilles and is likely to fall apart over the central Caribbean Sea by Saturday. Maximum sustained winds of 70 mph have been reported, and storm total rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches with maximum amounts of 10 inches are possible across portions of the Lesser Antilles. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Dominica, St. Lucia, and Martinique, while a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Barbados and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Tropical Depression 4 may become Cindy if it strengthens into a tropical storm.

Tropical Depression 4 and Bret Bring Heavy Rain and Strong Winds to Atlantic and Leeward Islands.

Tropical Depression 4 has formed in the central Atlantic, while Tropical Storm Bret is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rains to portions of the Leeward Islands. The depression is expected to remain east of the northern Leeward Islands through the weekend, while Bret is expected to move across the Lesser Antilles and then move westward across the eastern and central Caribbean Sea. A Hurricane Watch is in effect for St. Lucia, while a Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Dominica, St. Lucia, and Martinique.

Atlantic Braces for Tropical Storms Cindy and Bret.

Tropical Depression 4, previously known as Invest 93-L, has formed in the central Atlantic Ocean and is expected to become a tropical storm named Cindy in the next day or so, according to the National Hurricane Center. The system is currently located about 1,395 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and is moving west at 12 mph. There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
