
Tragedy in Lisbon: Funicular Crash Claims 16 Lives
Heather Hall, a professor and alumna of the College of Charleston, died in a high-speed trolley crash in Lisbon, Portugal, that killed at least 17 people. The accident occurred due to a cable malfunction on a funicular trolley designed for steep routes. Hall was in Lisbon to speak at a conference and was known for her work in literacy and special education, as well as her love of travel. The college expressed deep condolences and offered support resources for students and staff.
