Connecticut Police Officers Fired for Paralyzing Man in Custody
Two of the five New Haven police officers involved in the transport incident that left Randy Cox paralyzed have been fired by the police commission. The officers violated the "General Orders of the New Haven Police Department," according to the mayor. The other three officers involved in the incident are awaiting a decision on their employment status. All five officers were charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and pleaded not guilty. The charges against Cox were dropped in October. An internal affairs investigation report alleges the officers violated several principles, including integrity, trustworthiness, courtesy, and respect.
