Fatal Tractor-Trailer Rollover Claims Lives of Dozens of Cows on I-84
Fourteen cows died and six were euthanized after a tractor-trailer carrying 44 dairy cattle rolled over on Interstate 84 in Newtown, Connecticut. The driver, who was not injured, was traveling too fast in foggy conditions and failed to realize it was an exit ramp. Firefighters used the jaws of life to rescue the remaining cows, which were evaluated by a veterinarian and are doing well. The incident caused the closure of the off-ramp for several hours.
