Sagrada Familia reaches its soaring peak as central tower tops out at 172.5 meters
Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia completed its central tower with the final piece, reaching 172.5 meters—the tallest building in the city and the world’s tallest church—after 144 years of construction. A ceremony will mark Gaudí’s death centenary on June 10, and work on the Glory façade is expected to take about a decade, funded by the basilica’s tourism income.
