Fraudster Sentenced to Over 5 Years for Trump-Inspired Border Wall Scheme
Timothy Shea, the only person convicted at trial for defrauding donors in the "We Build the Wall" campaign, has been sentenced to 5-1/4 years in prison. Shea's sentence is the longest imposed in the case, which raised over $25 million from donors. Shea helped his co-defendants launder funds through shell companies while claiming the money was for building the wall, keeping $180,000 for himself. Two other defendants, Brian Kolfage and Andrew Badolato, who pleaded guilty, received shorter prison terms. Steve Bannon, also charged in the case, was pardoned by former President Donald Trump.
