"Timberview High School Shooter Receives 12-Year Sentence for Attempted Capital Murder"
Timothy Simpkins, the teenager found guilty of attempted capital murder in the 2021 Timberview High School shooting in Arlington, Texas, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison and ordered to pay a $6,000 fine. Simpkins, who claimed he was bullied and feared for his life, shot classmates after a brawl in which he was beaten. Three people were hospitalized as a result of the shooting. Defense attorneys portrayed Simpkins as a kind-hearted boy who got in over his head, while prosecutors described him as a violent drug dealer with no regard for life.
