Tianna Esperanza Overcomes 'Terror' in Uphill Battle
Tianna Esperanza's debut album "Terror" is an eclectic mix of musical styles that draws from folk, classical, jazz, swing, and hip-hop. The album is a reflection of Esperanza's personal experiences with sexual assault and abuse, as well as the influence of their grandmother, Paloma McLardy, who was a member of the punk groups The Slits and The Raincoats. Esperanza also discusses their search for Black mentorship in the music industry and the importance of telling diverse stories beyond the expectations of the industry. Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Valerie June makes a guest appearance on the album.
