Third-grade testing woes: Retention, tutoring, and re-exams
60% of third graders in Tennessee are at risk of retention based on their scores from the state reading test. A new law requires students scoring below "proficient" to attend summer school, tutoring, or re-take the test to be promoted to the fourth grade.
