A24 has won the rights to adapt the true crime podcast, The Girlfriends, into a television series. The podcast tells the story of a group of women who come together to bring a murderous ex to justice. Michael Showalter and his Semi-Formal Productions are attached to the project, with Showalter set to direct. A24 has been actively acquiring intellectual property amid the Hollywood strikes, and if the series goes forward, it will join A24's extensive slate of TV and film projects.
