Creating Tech Intern Opportunities for Underrepresented Students.
Bowie State University, a historically Black university in Maryland, has created its own internship placement program for computing students, bypassing the often harsh Silicon Valley vetting process. The program aims to match students directly with employers seeking interns, and it also holds training sessions for students on interview skills and workshops on hot topics like machine learning. The program addresses socioeconomic barriers that can hinder some students from getting internships and widens opportunities for students. This year, Adobe started its own internship program with Bowie State, focused on cybersecurity.
