Newly appointed Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles has announced his first cabinet appointments, which include a mix of HISD staff members, former employees of his charter school network, administrators from across Texas, and educational analysts. The district is undergoing changes at the beginning stages of the state's takeover, including a reapplication process for staff at 29 schools and a new staffing model for struggling schools. Miles' appointments share his vision for implementing system-wide reform in HISD that improves student outcomes for all HISD students, eradicates the massive achievement gaps for Black and Brown students, and provides a full set of education experiences to prepare all HISD graduates for the year 2035 and beyond.
