Several US states have passed laws mandating the inclusion of Asian American history in K-12 public school curriculums, with the Teaching Equitable Asian American Community History (TEAACH) Act being the first in Illinois. Advocates say teaching AAPI history is key to reducing anti-Asian discrimination and violence, and to ensure that AAPI students see themselves reflected in textbooks. However, efforts to restrict inclusive history curriculum, including AAPI history, have emerged in some states.
