Apple Expands iPhone Production in India, Eyes Growing Market Potential
Tata is planning to build India's largest iPhone assembly plant in Tamil Nadu, which is expected to have over 20 assembly lines and employ over 50,000 workers within two years. The plant aims to strengthen Apple's supply chain localization efforts and could lead to increased competition with Samsung. The new facility is expected to be operational by late 2024 and may help reduce the cost of Apple smartphones due to increased local production. Tata Electronics has already acquired an iPhone factory in Karnataka and has started hiring for the Tamil Nadu plant.
