German supermarket giant Aldi is acquiring nearly 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets in the Southeast region of the United States, including locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The move is part of Aldi's plan to expand its presence in the US, with a goal of 2,400 stores by the end of 2024. The acquisition will allow Aldi to increase its market share and experiment with different store models. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2024, pending regulatory approval.
