Remembering Gordon Lightfoot: Billy Joel's Tribute at MSG.
Billy Joel paid tribute to the late Gordon Lightfoot by performing "Sundown" at his monthly visit to Madison Square Garden. He also dedicated his own song "The Downeaster 'Alexa'" to Lightfoot. Joel had previously honored the folk-rock troubadour with a rendition of "If You Could Read My Mind" on his home piano following Lightfoot's death on May 1. Neil Young also paid tribute to Lightfoot, calling him a "great Canadian artist" and "a songwriter without parallel."
