Potential Subtropical System Threatens Southeast Coast and Florida This Weekend
A low-pressure system is expected to develop off the coast of the Southeast U.S. this weekend, potentially becoming a subtropical depression or storm. Regardless of development, rain and wind will spread up the Eastern Seaboard. Another system is likely to develop in the eastern Atlantic. The Atlantic hurricane season remains active with Hurricane Nigel in the central Atlantic and a new tropical wave emerging from Africa. The low off the Southeast coast will bring gusty winds, high surf, and locally heavy rain to the Carolinas and mid-Atlantic states.
