UAW Agreements Ensure Compensation for Striking and Laid-Off Workers
United Auto Workers (UAW) members who were on strike or laid off due to the strike against the Detroit Three automakers would receive approximately $100 per day in compensation as part of the tentative agreements reached with the companies. This provision, not previously highlighted in union livestreams, would mean that the automakers would be paying workers who were not working for up to 46 days. In addition to the strike pay provided by the UAW, the agreements also include a $5,000 ratification bonus, an immediate 11% wage hike, and other benefits such as increased retirement contributions and job security protections.
