WhatsApp for Android will no longer exempt backups from counting towards Google Drive storage limits, starting with beta users in December and all Android users in the first half of 2024. Users will be notified 30 days in advance and can choose to use WhatsApp Chat Transfer for wireless transfers between devices. Google suggests upgrading to Google One subscriptions for more storage and will offer limited promotions. Google Photos is now automatically backing up RAW images on Android devices, displaying them in the main "Photos" grid. The RAW images are labeled as such and can be viewed alongside the corresponding JPEG. However, this change may impact mobile data caps and Google One storage limits. There is currently no way to restrict RAW uploads or view only RAW captures in Google Photos. Additionally, Google recently added the ability to set a default RAW editor in the app.
