S.S. Badger's Season Cut Short by Ramp Damage
The S.S. Badger, a historic ferry that carries traffic across Lake Michigan between Michigan and Wisconsin, will be out of service for the rest of the season due to damage to its ramp system. The ferry's operator, Lake Michigan Carferry, announced that the ramp's counterweight system needs months of repairs, making it impossible to resume service this season. The S.S. Badger, which can accommodate 600 passengers and 180 vehicles, began its sailing season in May and was scheduled to run daily crossings until October 9.
