Ford to Release Software Update for Ear-Piercing Noises in F-150 Speakers
Ford will issue a software update to address the "ear piercing" noises reported by customers with 2022 F-150 trucks, which sound like static or glass shattering and cannot be turned off. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is monitoring the situation, and potentially affected vehicles include the 2021-2023 models of the Ford Expedition, the 2022 F-150 Lightning, and both hybrid and gas versions of 2021-2023 F-150 trucks. Ford believes the issue does not warrant a recallable safety defect and will distribute the software update to mute unwanted sound through the amplifier.
