A 69-year-old woman named Holly Jenkins was killed in an alligator attack in Spanish Wells on Hilton Head Island, Beaufort County. The alligator was guarding the woman when emergency crews arrived, hindering their efforts. The incident is currently being investigated by the South Carolina Department of Resources and the Beaufort County Coroner's Office. This is the second fatal alligator attack in Beaufort County in less than a year.

A 69-year-old woman was found dead near a lagoon in the Spanish Wells community on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, in a possible alligator attack. Emergency efforts to recover the woman's body were interrupted by an alligator guarding it, but the gator was safely removed. This marks the second deadly alligator attack in Beaufort County in less than a year. The cause of death will be determined through an autopsy.
