Shakira's Last-Minute Deal: Avoiding Prison in Spanish Tax Fraud Case
Colombian singer Shakira has reached a last-minute settlement with Spanish prosecutors in her tax fraud case, avoiding a trial. She will receive a suspended three-year sentence and pay a fine of 7.3 million euros. Shakira had been accused of failing to pay over 14.5 million euros in income taxes between 2012 and 2014. While she maintains her innocence, she chose to settle to protect her family. However, she will have to pay an additional 432,000 euros and her legal record will reflect a guilty verdict, potentially affecting separate tax evasion charges she still faces.
