Ex-Marine and Iraq Veteran Suspected in Southport Mass Shooting
A former Marine and Iraq war veteran, Nigel Max Edge, who had a traumatic brain injury and struggled with mental health issues, is accused of shooting into a Southport bar from a boat, killing three people and injuring five. Edge, who changed his name in 2023, had a history of combat trauma and recovery, and was well known in the community as a veteran dealing with PTSD.
