Jazz detective uncovers treasure trove in Baltimore basement.
Three albums featuring performances by jazz legends Sonny Stitt, Shirley Scott, and Walter Bishop Jr. have been released after years of work by producer Zev Feldman and musician Cory Weeds. The recordings were made at the Famous Ballroom in Baltimore, where the Left Bank Jazz Society held concerts from the mid-1960s to the early 1980s. The society recorded hundreds of shows, but only about a dozen had been released commercially until now. The newly-released records are a tribute to the history of the Famous Ballroom and the Left Bank Jazz Society, as well as the artists themselves.
