"Maine Sailor Makes History as First American Woman to Solo Sail Around the World"

Cole Brauer, a sailor from Maine, has become the first American woman to sail non-stop around the world solo, covering 27,000 miles in 4 months as part of the Global Solo Challenge. She finished second overall and was the only woman competing in the race, gaining a large social media following by sharing her raw emotions and experiences during the journey. Mentored in sailing at Boothbay Harbor, Brauer plans to spend time with family before deciding on her next steps.

Indian Sailors Make History in Global Race

Abhilash Tomy, an Indian adventurer, has become the first Asian and Indian to complete the 30,000-mile Golden Globe Race, the longest endurance race on the planet, sailing solo around the world. Tomy, who had to learn to walk again after a horrific accident in a storm during the 50th anniversary edition of the race in 2018, completed the race in 236 days, coming second overall. He was greeted with cheers and congratulations in the French town of Les Sables d'Olonne upon his return.
