ISRO Chairman S Somanath announced that India's first solar mission spacecraft, Aditya-L1, is scheduled for a final firing on January 6 to align with the L1 point, a stable position in space for uninterrupted solar observation. If the final burn does not occur, the spacecraft will drift towards the Sun. The mission aims to study solar phenomena like coronal mass ejections and solar flares, which can impact satellite communications and radio waves. Aditya-L1 has already undergone several manoeuvres since its launch on September 2, 2023, and all payloads are functioning well.
