Multiple Apartment Fires Displace Residents and Destroy Buildings in Texas

A fire caused by improperly discarded smoking materials at the Mueller Flats Apartments in east Austin displaced residents of 12 units. The fire started on the third-floor balcony and spread to the attic and second floor, causing heavy fire damage to six units and fire control damage to six others. The Austin Fire Department rescued residents trapped on the third floor, and no one was hurt in the fire.
