French Pilot Convicted for Decapitating Skydiver with Plane Wing
A French pilot has been found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and operating an aircraft without a valid license after decapitating an experienced skydiver with the wing of his plane. The victim, Nicholas Galy, was struck by the plane's wing seconds after he jumped in July 2018. The pilot, who received a suspended sentence of 12 months and a one-year flying ban, was criticized for recklessness and negligence. The court also highlighted a lack of communication between the victim and the pilot. The pilot's former parachuting school was fined, but half of it was suspended.
