"Modernizing Mozart: The 'Magic Flute' Gets a Tech Upgrade"
Simon McBurney's production of Mozart's "Die Zauberflöte" at the Metropolitan Opera features a magical sound world created through the use of technology, including body microphones, live Foley artist, and about 100 strategically placed speakers. The production also features a central square platform that can transport the characters and live projections. McBurney's North Star remains the music, and he tries to stay faithful to what it meant for its creator, Mozart.
