Tragic Death of Former NHL Player Adam Johnson Investigated
Former NHL player Adam Johnson, 29, has died after his neck was cut by another player's skate during an Elite Ice Hockey League game in Sheffield, England. The incident, described as a "freak accident," occurred during the second period, prompting officials to empty the arena as medical personnel responded. Johnson was taken to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead. The South Yorkshire Police have opened an investigation into his death. Johnson, who had previously played for the Pittsburgh Penguins, was in his first season with the Nottingham Panthers. The English Ice Hockey Association has announced that neck guards will be mandatory for players after December 31.
