Brazilian Police Foil Gang's Assassination and Kidnapping Plan
Brazilian federal police have disrupted a criminal gang's plot to kidnap and assassinate government officials in at least five states. The planned attacks were part of a coordinated campaign, intended to occur simultaneously. The police have arrested 11 individuals and served 24 search-and-seizure warrants. Among the targeted officials were a senator and a prosecutor, as well as Sergio Moro, a former federal judge who presided over corruption trials, including the "Operation Car Wash" scandal. Moro indicated on Twitter that the First Capital Command (PCC) was involved in the plot.
