Violent Attack in Kosovo Leaves Policeman Dead and Monastery Targeted
A group of approximately 30 heavily armed men attacked Kosovo police in a village, resulting in the death of a policeman. The same armed men also stormed a Serbian Orthodox monastery nearby. Kosovo officials blamed the attack on police and the monastery storming on "Serbia-sponsored criminals." The armed men were described as professionals with military and police backgrounds. It is unclear if there were any casualties at the monastery. Tensions have been high in Kosovo since clashes in May, and EU-sponsored talks on normalizing relations between Serbia and Kosovo have stalled.
