Rampant Fake Bomb Threats Target Montgomery County Schools
Montgomery County schools in Maryland have been plagued by a series of fake bomb threats, causing fear and disruption among students, parents, and law enforcement. A 12-year-old student admitted to sending seven bomb threat emails targeting schools, including Montgomery Blair High School. However, due to Maryland law, the child cannot be charged as children under 13 can only be charged with offenses that constitute a "crime of violence." The threats have led to increased police presence, evacuation of schools, and significant financial costs. The rise in bomb threats targeting schools nationwide is a growing concern, with the majority turning out to be unfounded.
