Investigations into Inmate Deaths and Assaults at SC Detention Centers
The South Carolina Department of Corrections is investigating the death of an inmate at Broad River Correctional Institution as a homicide. The inmate, Trey Chavez Brown, was found unresponsive in his cell and an autopsy will be conducted. The investigation is being carried out by the SCDC Inspector General's office, the S.C. Law Enforcement Division, and the Richland County Coroner.
