"Missouri Nun's Body Defies Decay, Considered for Sainthood"
The body of Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster, a Catholic nun who died in 2019, was exhumed and found to be almost perfectly preserved, despite not being embalmed. Thousands of people flocked to the abbey she founded in Missouri to view her remains before they were interred in a glass case for display. While the Catholic Church considers an incorrupt body to be a sign of sanctity on the possible journey to sainthood, there has been no official determination that Sister Wilhelmina's remains are "incorrupt," nor is there any cause underway for her canonization.
