DGA approves tentative contract with studios, including AI and residuals.
The Directors Guild of America has released further details of its new contract with major studios, including a 21% increase in streaming residuals on the largest platforms and language on artificial intelligence. The deal also includes safety provisions in response to the shooting death of Halyna Hutchins on the set of "Rust" in 2021. The AMPTP may seek to apply the provisions to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA, which began negotiating on Wednesday. The DGA also gained specific benefits for its members, such as additional paid time for TV directors to collaborate on a second cut of a TV episode.
