"Wrong-Driveway Murder: New York Man Convicted in Trial"
Kevin Monahan, 66, was convicted of second-degree murder for fatally shooting 20-year-old Kaylin Gillis after she and her friends mistakenly turned into his rural driveway in upstate New York while looking for another house. Monahan fired his shotgun at the group, hitting Gillis in the neck as she sat in the front passenger seat of an SUV. Monahan claimed the shooting was an accident involving a defective gun, but prosecutors argued that he acted out of anger.
