Cannes raves about bone-chilling Holocaust drama 'The Zone of Interest'
"The Zone of Interest," a psychological horror film set in Auschwitz and directed by Jonathan Glazer, is receiving near-unanimous praise at the Cannes Film Festival. The film focuses on the family of Rudolf Hoess, the longest-serving commandant of the Auschwitz camp, and portrays their daily lives as terrifyingly ordinary despite the horrors happening just outside their garden. Shot in a realist style, the film has been described as bone-chilling and bracingly original, and is in competition for the Palme d'Or.
