Emerald Fennell’s surreal Wuthering Heights opened to a strong global total of about $83 million over the Valentine’s Day/Presidents’ Day weekend, topping the box office. Domestically it earned roughly $38 million in 3,682 theaters, below early projections, while overseas it brought in about $45 million. Produced for about $80 million with marketing around $85 million, the film’s profitability will likely depend on foreign markets as it expands to Japan, China, and other regions.
