"John Lennon's Unexpected Collaboration: Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen on Double Fantasy"
Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen, a lifelong Beatles fan, had the opportunity to play on John Lennon's Double Fantasy album. Nielsen, along with drummer Bun E. Carlos and bassist Tony Levin, joined Lennon and Yoko Ono in the studio. Although their contributions to the album were ultimately omitted, Nielsen had a conversation with Lennon where he revealed that he would have been interested in producing Cheap Trick's debut album. Lennon also expressed admiration for Nielsen's guitar playing and threw shade at Eric Clapton. The connections between Cheap Trick and the Beatles continue, with George Martin producing one of their albums and the band releasing a cover of Lennon's "Gimme Some Truth."
