Hasbro, Maple Powered Games, and Freedom Games have announced the upcoming release of G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra, a retro beat 'em up game featuring iconic characters from the G.I. Joe series. Set in various locations, players will battle against Cobra Commander's latest scheme to take over the world. The game offers story and arcade modes with up to four-player co-op, hand-drawn pixel art, classic-style cartoon cutscenes, and a modern take on the animated series' theme song. G.I. Joe: Wrath of Cobra is set to launch in Q1 2024 on multiple platforms.
McDonald's has released a retro-style 2D game in celebration of Grimace's 52nd birthday. Developed in partnership with Krool Toys, the platformer features Grimace on a skateboard searching for his missing friends and collecting milkshakes. The game can be played on a modern PC or mobile device and was most likely created using a drag-and-drop tool for Nintendo handheld games called GB Studio. While it's not an official release, people have been able to find and share a copy that can be played on a Game Boy emulator.
