NYC Basements Flooded with Sewage Water After Weekend Washout
New York City and surrounding areas experienced record rainfall over the weekend, causing flooding in streets and basements, as well as several retaining walls to collapse. Sewage water filled basements in Brooklyn, and a six-story apartment building in the Bronx was evacuated after a retaining wall collapsed. The Department of Environmental Protection is being blamed by some residents for shutting down pipes when sewage overflows. The rain is expected to clear out, with temperatures warming up near 70 by next weekend.
