Philadelphia police officer charged with murder for shooting Eddie Irizarry in his car

A judge in Philadelphia has reinstated a murder charge against former police officer Mark Dial, who shot and killed 27-year-old Eddie Irizarry in his car just six seconds after exiting a police vehicle. The decision overturns a previous judge's ruling to drop all charges against Dial. The charges reinstated include murder, voluntary manslaughter, official oppression, and four other counts. Dial was taken back into custody and held without bail. Prosecutors argued that there are sufficient questions of fact that need to be determined by a jury. Body camera footage supports the prosecution's allegations, but the defense claims Dial believed Irizarry had a gun.

"Massive Medicaid Reinstatement: Over 500,000 Children and Families Regain Coverage"

Approximately 500,000 children and families have had their Medicaid coverage reinstated after being improperly terminated by many states due to a systems issue. Some states were considering entire families as a whole without considering higher household income thresholds for children. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) instructed states to evaluate each member of the household individually, resulting in 29 states and the District of Columbia pausing disenrollment and restoring coverage. CMS did not provide a breakdown of how many children were among the 500,000 people who regained coverage. States are currently reevaluating the eligibility of over 87 million people in Medicaid and several million more in the Children's Health Insurance Program.
