Red River Shooting Suspect to be Released from Jail Ahead of Trial

Matthew Jackson, a Bandidos gang member who was present during the Red River shooting that killed three people and injured five others, has been released from jail despite prosecutors' concerns that he is a dangerous man who should stay in jail while awaiting trial. Jackson is not charged for the actual shooting, but for carrying a firearm in a licensed liquor establishment and drug possession. Pretrial detention hearings are still pending for the other two suspects, Chris Garcia and Jacob Castillo, with Castillo being the only person facing murder charges for the shooting so far.

The aftermath of a deadly biker gang shootout.

Three people were killed and five others injured in a shooting in Red River involving members of the Bandidos and Water Dogs biker gangs. Jacob Castillo is charged with murder, Christopher Garcia is charged with cocaine possession, and Matthew Jackson is accused of taking a gun into a liquor establishment. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a conflict over a gang member taking a picture with a different gang in Albuquerque. Only one of the deceased had a criminal record, while the others involved didn't have any significant criminal cases in New Mexico. Garcia and Jackson are from Texas, so their criminal records in their home state may not show up in New Mexico's court system.
